Celebrating 60 years of excellence, CDF unveils unprecedented recruitment plan with 3,500 openings

In celebration of its 60th corporate anniversary, China Development Financial (CDF) is kicking off the biggest recruitment program ever in its six decades in the business. Following an early launch last December of the recruitment cycle for the 2019 Management Associate (MA) Program, CDF has become a fixture at the latest campus career fairs around the country to offer college grads valuable career advice. In addition to offering a NT$1 million annual compensation package to 30 master’s degree-holding MA candidates, this year’s recruitment cycle will be its largest ever with 3,500 vacancies to be filled by young talent of not only finance and economics majors, but more essentially from diverse academic backgrounds. The group welcomes young leaders with a global perspective that dare to take up a challenge to join the family in pursuit of excellence building for a new era.

Over the past 60 years, according to CDF President Mr. Alan Wang, CDF has upheld the core spirit of financial services and was a driving force behind Taiwan’s industrial development, and witnessed the rise of its IT communication, biotech pharmaceutical, consumer goods and creative sectors. At the same time, CDF has also played a pioneering role in promoting Taiwan’s financial presence on the international stage, increasingly engaging the China, Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific markets via its life insurance, banking, securities and venture capital/private equity subsidiary business arms. CDF aspires to become the most distinguished financial group among Sinophone communities.

President Wang says cultivating a forward-looking and international perspective among employees is key to shaping a culture toward pursuing excellence and innovation. It is the group’s objective to acquire young talent with a broader mix of specialties, which will enrich the group with diverse strengths to venture into new domains. Young elites of diverse backgrounds who join CDF will receive tailor-made training in a platform offering a wide range of possibilities, including overseas assignment opportunities, to take part in the group’s rapid development. President Wang presses colleagues to be concerned for others and give back when they’re able, and proposes to all to foster a blissful enterprise culture.

Among the 3,500 openings, the largest recruitment in corporate history, 2,600 will be assigned to the insurance arm, while 450 will be assigned to banking, 350 to brokerage and 100 to the parent company, CDIB Capital Group and other subsidiaries. President Wang suggests CDF and subsidiaries all incorporate principles of corporate sustainability responsibilities into operating strategies and business practice, and show a commitment to corporate governance, transparency of information, equal access, and good faith management, while all employees need to learn and grow on the basis of sustainable operations. To support the group’s latest effort in advancing financial innovations, this year’s recruitment program will reach out to talent from multiple disciplines. With or without a background in finance or business, candidates will be taken into serious consideration as long as they demonstrate a proactive attitude, leadership, problem-solving abilities and communication skills.

Committed to recruiting young talent, CDF took the MA campaign on a nationwide tour in December, holding events on the campuses of National Taiwan University (NTU), National Cheng Chi University (NCCU), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). Having an active presence at campus job fairs has given CDF access to more talent, and to showcase the legacy and expertise that distinguishes CDF as a player in the financial industry when directly engaging soon-to-be college grads. On March 9, top executives at CDF and subsidiaries made appearances at NTU’s career fair, speaking directly with jobseekers about future opportunities in the financial industry. Meanwhile, three MA Program counselling sessions were held, where former MAs shared their personal stories of growth in the Program and at CDF. The one-year Program offers a series of coursework training, job rotations and internship. An exclusive career mentor will be assigned for MAs at different stages.

President Wang says the way MAs are treated in the training program shows the company’s commitment to talent cultivation and retention. From a direct venture capital investor in the very beginning to where it is now after continuous growth and transformation, CDF’s broad business exposure will be the best choice for those who wish to pursue a career in the financial industry.
